Travel Awards

Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are invited to apply for a travel award to help defray the cost of travel to attend the 2024 Stress Neurobiology Workshop.

Based on funding from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and other sources, travel awards will be presented to award winners to defray the costs of the meeting (Registration, Hotel accommodations, Travel costs).

Application submission details:

All applicants must complete an online application which includes:

  • Current CV

  • A description of your current research (this could be your poster abstract) and how attending the meeting will benefit your developmental goals [500 word max]

  • A statement describing your commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM [350 word max]

  • A letter of recommendation from a current or former mentor.

  • Eligibility:

    • Graduate students must be enrolled full-time in a graduate or professional degree program and not have completed their degree requirements by June 4, 2023

    • Postdoctoral scientists must have received a Ph.D. or equivalent degree within 5 years prior to the date of application.

The travel award and postdoc speaker applications have been reviewed and awardees notified by email. Thank you to everyone who applied and to NIMH and NSF for generous support.

Postdoc Speakers

An exciting part of the workshop program will be the inclusion of postdoctoral speakers in our symposia sessions. Interested postdocs should submit an application through this online form.

Interested applicants should consider how the work they can present would fit within the themes of our scientific program and submit the following:

  • Current CV

  • Statement of research interests and career goals [500 word max]

  • A statement describing your commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM [350 word max]

Speakers will be selected based on evaluation of quality and fit of the proposed talk to the content of the meeting and likelihood that inclusion in the meeting will facilitate the advancement of the individual within the field.

Travel award review:

All applications will be judged by at least 2 reviewers using a rubric with 9 specific evaluative prompts relating to: quality of applicant’s research, the applicant’s productivity, the personal statement, the DEI statement, and the recommender’s letter.
